Depends on where you go.
I found that the businesses that dealt largely with travelers or tourists charge prices similar to other areas. Look for the low end dives the locals go to & you will find the bargains.
Have fun. Maine is beautiful but I don't think I would want to visit during winter. Avoid the paper mill towns - they all smell bad unless they have changed.

It can be cheapER, depending on where you live, but I wouldn't say cheap. I'm in Texas, so yes, it is cheaper in Maine than it is here. One of the best places I had lobster was when I was visiting in Cape Elizabeth. There was a little shack right off the road, on the shore. You could call and place your order ahead of time and they would catch the lobster, steam it and have it ready for you to pick up.

Lobster in Maine isn't all that cheap, unless of course it's been around a few extra days. Always shop around, like anything else. God Bless !!

NO, you would think it was, but I found the prices to be the same. I could not find a good resturant either, they were all Pasta bars, when I did find the lobster bar, the lobster had been frozen and was not fresh. I found it cheapest in Seattle for sea food.

NO. They sell most of the lobster to other states. New Hamsphire will get you a better price.
