Supporting the local team is always a good way to start. Since you're in London, you're in luck cause there are 6 London teams in the Premiership; Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham, West Ham, Fulham, Charlton.
However, I think you should support the team which gets you excited and gives you a thrill when you watch them play. Doesn't have to be the best team, this being the Premiership, every team plays with passion every weekend, be it the top teams or the relegation battlers.
Just try watching a few of the London clubs and pick the one that arouse your passion.

If you want a London team that isn't rubbish, Arsenal would be a good choice. Chelsea are full of money and winning everything at the moment, so if you support them you'll just look like you're supporting the best team by default. Arsenal's fortunes are more mixed. Like any support, there can be a lot of fun in supporting a team that has as many defeats as it does triumphs. You get more emotionally involved.
Oh, and don't make the mistake of the American poster here and refer to them as the Arsenal Gunners (like the Chicago Bears). They're Arsenal, or the Gunners. Gunners is a nickname derived from the fact you keep guns in an arsenal.

some people would tell you to support the club nearest to where you live, others will tell you 2 support Arsenal bkoz zey supposedly play attractive football, or Liverpool bkoz they have a good history or even Chelsea bkoz they have been success full over the 2 years and have lots of money...
I would personally advise you 2 support THE TEAM who have won the heart of people all around the world, from Asia To America, From Europe To Africa, They are The most passionate team of this century....
You must have guest which team i am talking about....
Of course Manchester United.
They are the team that have bring English football back to Europe.
I am not English... i live on an island far from England, and i came to know the premiership with the fame of United.
A lot of their players come from the Junior team and most of them are British.. they have a culture of their own and an unequal history which does not stick to football only.

Nottingham Forest. You could go for the money clubs like Man U or Chelsea. But take a look at the Forest web site and view there history. They were up there until the money took over the game. Maybe they will get back to the premiership soon. They certaintly have the fan base and stadium to warrent a place their. Up to you though. Liverpool are certaintly the most successful English football team and my favourite Premiership team and Chelsea, well they will no doubt buy all the silver ware but dosen't that take the fun out of the game?

If i were you i would support Fulham. They may not be the best team in the premiership but neither are my team Bolton Wanderers. Fulham are a good side who play entertaining football and have a great manager and a friendly atmosphere. It is quite easy to get tickets as most people around their support Chelsea. They also have an American playing for them in Brian McBride

Which part of London do you live in? How much can you afford to pay to watch teams? Just go to the nearest team to where you live and see what you think. If you feel at home and enjoy it, then thats your team. If you don't like it, then go to the next nearest team. Don't assume that the biggest team will give you the most pleasure, It doesn't work like that, but all teams are loveable once they become 'your' team.

i think you should just watch for a while before you decide on which club you love.
i am a teenage girl qho just started watching premire league like may this year and i've been so addicted to every single match ever since.
but it took me 2 months or around 10 matches to realize whic team i love
i mean it just grows on me.
if u watched a team, u notice how something good about the players, attitude, passion or whatsoever it just attracts you so naturally you doesn't even have to like TRY HARD to like the team
you will gradually FEEL that THE TEAM is special & unique & outstanding in your own thinking. and that's THE TEAM that will be with you.
for me it was ARSENAL FC right away after watching them for like a few matches because...
1. they play smooth sexy football. the ball sort of flows around their legs when they play
2. arsene wenger is a cool manager. he is calm & looks good :D
3. they have the spirit, passion & class
4. they have a big stadium, the emirates
5. they have a lot of international players & young players ( appeals to teens like me!)
6. ljunberg is featured in a calvin klein underwear advertisement with supermodel natalia vodianova. he's hot.
7. fabregas is too cute
8. rosicky is too cool ( does he smile?)
9. henry is too gentleman & too good on the pitch
10. they all wear red hot jerseys
haha hope u will find THE TEAM that will inspire u. have fun in UK!
