Guppy can give birth once a month. If you want keep the off-springs from the parents, you need to put some water plants that provide shelter for the fry to protect them from being eaten by the parents as this fish will eat the fry if they are not separated from the bigger fishes. You can transfer the fry into the smaller tank and feed them with fine pellets until they are big enough to join the parents in the big tank. You will suprise how fast they can grow. Good luck!

my guppy gave birth to 24 the other day, most of the time a guppy when heavily pregnant will have a large black spot at the abdominal area this is called a gravid spot. if you catch the guppy in time and place it in a breeding trap (i find the cheaper ones the best) the fry should drop straight through and be safe, keep the mother until the gravid spot is very small and you are sure she is done, (the gravid spot should be a bit red and she should look empty). keep the babies in the trap or they are at huge risk of being eaten by the other fish, i have set up a small clear seal tank for them to live in until i sell them. but it is not a necessity, hope that helped happy holidays!

Yes, they've given birth and the other fish have thought it was their birthday! Once you've got a pregnant fish, keep it separate - in another tank if poss - and as soon as it starts spouting forth keep an eye on it and net it out when it's finished. You used to be able to get a little plastic tank with a V-shaped insert (and no doubt you still can!). Small tank sits in the main one near the top, the mother goes in the top part of it and the babies drop through at the bottom of the V into their own little part, safely away from mum and all other fish.

guppies get pregnent very easily and often, the are live bearers, which means the fry(baby fish) are born swimming, the fry are 2 millimeters long and as thin as cotten so somtimes hard to see.
if they are not seperated or given adequete cover to hide in the can often be eaten by the mother or oter fish.
if your fish get swolllen stomachs but dnt give birth before the get small again, then they are not pregnant the are suffering from a bacterial infection called Dropsey which can be treated easily with treatment found in most fish supply shops.

The mother or other fish will eat them. They probably are pregnant but as soon as new fish are born they are eaten. You need to get a little floating breeding tank. Put the "fat" fish in there until the babies come out and then you can put the mother fish back in the tank. Keep the little ones in the breading box until they are a bit bigger.

They have live baby's about once a month. Other fish including the parents will eat the fry. When she gets ready to birth her belly will be dark and look square. If you don't intend to take mom out to have her baby's then make sure have lots of plants and other hiding places for the fry.

if you have them and the drab clooured ones are the ones that get big then they will be having babies if you want to keep the babies remove them from the other fish,if you do not want them just leave them where they are, the other fish will eat the babies but one or two of them will get away from the fish and they will hide in the tank and if they are lucky enough to grow up. but the more you have in the tank the less likely it is for any of the babies to survive.

when guppys are pregnant u must keep an eye on them, they dont lay eggs, they lay tiny babies, i saw my guppy giving birth and if the babies are not caught soon after birth then the other fish will eat them whole (even the mother)

Guppies breed like you wouldn't believe. They are livebearers and usually their tiny babies are eaten straight away by all of the other fish.
