You realize the Army isn't only around at war time, right? Instead of volunteering to go to a war zone, volunteer for the job and go where you are needed. Army won't take me for physical limitations, however my husband is going on 20 yrs now Army! (3of which in Iraq) So I think those of us in my household have done our duty. What about you?

Well said. I'm too old to go back in. I served Honourably from 1982-1986. How many of you loud mouth conservatives served or are willing to? 2/3 of active military vote Republican? Prove it. Where are the stats for that one? If we have enough troops(like some of you like to put forward), why are stop loses still being issued, Guard and Reserve units going for 3rd and 4th tours, and ole Bushwhacker wants to grow the size of the Army and Marines? Doesn't sound like we're getting enough volunteers. So come on all you tough people, get down to your recruiter's office!

With recruitment down, I just do not understand why they are not flocking to enlist. I read many comments, that some Bush supporters posted, and they make it look like recruitment is at a all time high. I can post this answer to you, first thing they would want to do is attack me....I served many years, have 4 Honorable discharges to prove it. I wish the best for all , and hope we have a good outcome.

I have served in the US Army as a Cavalry Scout. If you can get the US Army to enlist a man in a wheel chair I will gladly go. If I can hunt deer from a wheelchair why not a terrorist?

You thought wrong.No surprise.
Check some facts.
2/3 of all military personnel have re-enlisted from Jan to Sept.
80,000 new enlistments from Jan to Sep.
And yet these are Bush and Iraq war supporters.
Well, over 90% of military personnel vote Republican.
It should also be noted, that Hillary, our next president, and Lieberman also support Bush and the Iraq war.
(Don't worry. Enough brave girls are enlisting that liberals won't be drafted. Our military girls will protect them.)

Talk is cheap. The real heroes are those who are serving in Iraq, while here at home, we continue to have lots of bluster and boasting, but as you surmise, few are raising their hands to volunteer. Happy New Year.

Everyone who is in the Army, or any of the branches of the military "over there" is a volunteer. Think some more!

My husband is in the Army, he volunteered, he's done some time in Iraq already, he's been to Kosovo twice, he's currently a Drill Sergeant and will probably go back. Why don't you do something for your country besides whine and cry?!
