I am thinking boys need to be taught various trades like plumbing, electrical work, automotive repair, etc. while girls need to be taught how to sew, entertain guests, raise kids, cook healthy meals, etc. What do you guys think? Is this a good idea?

Just send us all off to ettiquette school then. Get out of the 50's man!! I think it should be the other way round so we can get past these stupid stereotypes.

No that is a crappy idea! I think a man should know how to wash his own laundry, iron his on clothes and clean his own house while a woman should learn how to do an oil change and change a tire in case of emergency! Why do men always think they should be taught boy things and girls should be taught girl things. Who said domestic skills were women's work and trades were Men's things?

No, I think boys need to be taught how to cook, clean, take care of children, etc. We live in the 2000s people are marrying later in life, it's important that boys know how to do these things. As far as girls learning plumbing, auto repair, and electrical work. The vast majority of men I know can't do any of that either, nor do they know how to cook and clean. There's something wrong with this picture.

I think people should just learn what they want in life and not put a label on anything, everything should learn how to cook, regardless of gender, everyone should learn electricity and plumbing, just in case of emergencies. Everyone should know how to fix their own cars, it takes 2 to raise kids, it takes both to entertain. I have male friends that are excellent Chefs and I have female Mechanic friends.

well i think boys and girls should learn everything it will help when a woman don't have a man around they can do it by themselves like fixing the tap changing light bulb so we woman do not need to pay someone to do something simple or ask someone to do it not to trouble others as for man simple sewing their own pants if there is a hole fixing the missing buttons and take care of the kids once in awhile so that his wife can take a break i think everyone should learn everything so we can all multitask we can save up a lot of time and money and make life perfect

I think everyone no matter if they are male or female should know things everything because you don't know when a girl might have her own place and no one around to help her out if there is an electrical problem or plumbing problem... I already know that some girls do fix there own rides.

I believe all these classes should be offered for both male and female. I wish I would have taken carpentry in highschool, because it was offered. I tried nursing, but later ended up going to college for carpentry. I do sew quilts, cook, and do domestic stuff, but I also do some carpentry. My husband has no clue how to fix stuff so I have to carry both sides of the horse.

that is gonna be very controversial because its sterotyping the genders. What if some guys become stay at home dads? Or what if girls become plumbers? they would be completely unequipped and uneducated for the trade becuase of the schools' inabilty to educate them for a stupid reason such as their gender. We're living in the 21st century now...equality among the sexes should be promoted not shunned by narrow minded educators.

Good idea! But, basically it is up to the person. Me personally, I learned to cook around age 6. Made a few mistakes. But, it was worth it. Guys dig girls that can cook. Especially when you can fix the cuffs in a suit or sew on a button in the spare of the moment. At that point you are a life saver to him.
I am independent. So, I like learning to fix cars and etc. just in case no man is around or if a mechanic tries to rip me off. I make myself familiar with oil changes and alternators. Maybe offer all the classes to each sex. Some guys want to cook and some girls want to soup up cars. In my case, I love to race cars.
Oh yeah, the raise kid thing offends most women. They loathe the old ways of society.

No!

I think it needs to be the OTHER WAY AROUND!

Too many women these days aren't as independent as they should be when it comes to fixing things like their cars, and well..there may not always BE a man around in their life.

And men, they could learn how to cook and be more sensitive to the needs of their family and become a more sensitive family oriented man, because a woman may not always be in their life to fix their buttons, take care of kids, cook, ect..

I think both men and women should learn both, becuase it makes for a WELL ROUNDED PERSON.
