I buy everything off the shelf but, would probably come out cheaper making or in other words creating something heart felt. Then the person would lie in my face saying it was wonderful. Keyword in the sentence she or he called my creation an it. So, yeah, sticking with the store bought is better because some people act like they don't know what a pot holder or scarf is.

My kids and I have made things this year. Homemade gifts are special. They should be useful or eatable though. LOL. We made coasters and sun catchers this year. The kids really get to use their creative side and they are very proud of their creations. Tomorrow we are making chocolate lollipops. The kind where you just melt the chocolate and pour it into the lollipop mold and put the stick in.

I make sugar-free French Silk pies for my sugar challenged friends; brownies and fudge for the ones who can eat it. I bake and cook a lot for my friends as holiday gifts. It costs as much or more if you use good quality ingredients, as buying a gift, but there's a little bit of your caring that goes with each one when you've made it for them with your own hands.

I decorate canisters of homemade Christmas cookies and give them to people like my boss, the paperboy, and stuff like that.
But I buy gifts for close family members.

Every year I make different kinds of fudge. I pack them in decorative bags or boxes. And give them to my sisters and best friends. I give about a 1/2 pound of each kind.
They love it!!

I used to do portraits for people, but have not really been interested in the past few years, hope to be able to get back into it by next year. :)
