My family has always opened gifts on Christmas Eve instead of Christmas morning so one of our traditions was going for a drive so Santa could have a chance to come to the house. Of course my mom would conveniently "forget" her purse in the house and sneak Santa's presents under the tree and hang up the stockings. On the drive it was so exciting wondering if he was in town yet. I would look at the sky to see if I could see his sleigh. Then when we came home my Dad would go in first to see if Santa had come. My heart would practically be beating out of my chest I was so excited!

I did the same for my daughter when she was a child. Now that she's older we still do the Christmas Eve drive though. And right now our town is blanketed by about 8 inches of snow so it's the perfect setting.

Merry Christmas!

First and foremost, the anticipation of Christmas day. My family and I celebrate Christmas on Christmas Eve. We all open gifts and eat finger foods...and no, not foods made of fingers. Christmas day I get to spend w/ my husband and his family. Yay!! Two days of Christmas!!

the quiet peacefulness - somewhere around 3 am after loading the tree, knowing that in a very few hours the kiddies will awake and all hell will break loose. - the inner calmness i always feel right before i drag my butt to bed for a few hours. whispering up to the starry sky , Happy Birthday Jesus and thankyou for your gifts to me.

i go to my fiances family's house on christmas eve. there are lots of us around a big long table, eating , talking, laughing...so much food. later on we play cards and drink. since we dont get to see everyone on christmas, we give all the kids their gifts. and theyre so excited to open them up. then one of the cousins dresses up as santa and comes in bringing gifts for everyone. its so cute because the kids get so excited and wait for him to come.
