I just had a cold last week for 5 days and I'm pregnant. Didn't take anything, just rested more and drank more. Bear with it if you can, don't take any medicine.

Everything you eat or drink, including prescription and over-the-counter (OTC) medicines will in some form pass through the placental barrier and affect your unborn baby somehow.

If you can avoid taking medicine at all for your cold it's safest. Drink LOTS of water. A cold will take 2 weeks or so to work its way out of your system anyway even if you did take medicines.

Remember, antibiotics don't work on cold viruses (or any viruses) so getting a prescription for one is futile. If you have secondary symptoms like green or orangy mucus then I'd call your OB/Gyn. He will know what's best to prescribe for a pregnant woman. If you have a fever, he will probably recommend tylenol, but ask first!

It's great you're aware of being careful what you're taking while you're pregnant. Not many years before I was born, pregnant women were given thalidomide to combat nausea and morning sickness. You may have seen pictures of children who were born without arms or legs, or partial limbs. That's when people became really aware of how vulnerable a baby is within the womb.

Get lots of rest, drink lots of water and use an extra soft toilet tissue for your nose 'cause regular facial tissues are too scratchy.

The only thing that they prefer for pregnant women to take is Tylenol cold and sinus for a cold. It is very safe. I'm 40 weeks pregnant now and I have a cold. I have to admit that Tylenol will not work right away because its not strong enough. Buy some vicks vapor rub and rub it on your chest at night, that really helps out alot.

With my second pregnancy I was absolutely dying (well not quite) about 3 weeks before my due date, begged the Doctor to help me as I was worried I wouldn't be able to breathe let alone puff and pant through labour...I was told...PARACETAMOL. I didn't know if I was meant to shove it up my blocked nose but was told that and steaming was all I could do....sorry. Give someone a call though to double check but I think theres not a lot you can take when your pregnant. Sorry.

There is no cure for the common cold. Take lots of liquids and rest. Your cold shouldn't affect your baby.

A cold is no big deal - just take it easy and drink plenty of fluids to keep the virus flushing out of your body. Don't take anything at all.

Any form of Tylenol is supposed to be safe when you are pregnant. You could always ask the Pharmacist at the store too and they will lead you in the right direction.

normally in the first trimester, your obgyn will tell you that you cant take anything, however, later in pregnancy, your doctor may be able to suggest things that you can take. just get ahold of them. otherwise, tylenol if you have a fever, but aside from that, drink and eat things with a lot of vitamin c.
