Same for me, as I've gotten olden and have my own bills to pay, it just hasn't been the same. I remember when I was younger, my parents were sorta poor so we only got maybe a few little presents each, but we would drink egg nog and listen to Christmas music, talk and laugh. Now I'm 20, I've been living on my own for almost 3 years, it's just not the same. Every where you go they start celebrating and promoting Christmas before Thanksgiving. It's more of a holiday for the economy nowadays, then it is for family.

Yeah, I know the feeling. Who's the reason for the season? It sure as hell isn't Santa Clause. Christmas has become so commercialized that they start the "celebrations" after Halloween. It's BS.
I still put up a tree, drink the egg nog and hang the wreath, but I still KNOW what Christmas is all about. Unfortunately, if you play the traditions game, it's money out of pocket. But if it keeps the family happy, it's money well spent. Be thankful it's only once a year.

it's the stress and fast life of society these days. constant pressure of things and having worry to get bills etc out of the way. all these companys all the time do nothing but threaten you with courts and threaten to cut you off if you don't pay this or that so you are permantly anxious. you are constantly thinking about things and worrying all the time. i used to have that problem but to get round it and relax and to have a good sleep, i now just say stuff them all!! use your home like a cocoon and say to yourself that whatever goes on in the outside world (bills, family rows etc) is shut outside the front door. chuck everything down and say to yourself that you will leave everything to the next working day and what goes on outside too is another working days problem and you will deal with it then. stuff the lot of it and go and unwind on your sofa with a drink and shut it all away. when thats all done, the only thing left going around in your mind is chrismas. and the more you unwind and think about it then the more you will start acting like a big kid

When you were younger you felt the warmth of being around family, perhaps your parents home.
Long since I have put a control on holiday spending. I use to buy the best and have to pay for it through out the year. Ain't worth it.
Just enjoy the laughter and the company of loved ones...

My guess is that you are not spending within your budget, and your bills have forced you to concentrate on things other than family, friends, and your faith. Next year try volunteering to help others who are worse off then you a little more, and spend less money.

Time to cut Christmas back to its original shape. Before the shopping spree, it was all about family, sharing a meal and giving thanks while praying for peace. Not so bad after all.
