Go through all the pains and hardships but at the end we all die anyway. So what's the purpose of living?

I'm also wondering that if you die.... then what? All that (when your alive) for nothing?

I try to look at this life as a journey coming from a place I don't remember going to a place I know nothing about.
Since the only thing I'm sure about is this life I'm going to enjoy it as much as humanly possible.
But what is the purpose;
To leave my small part of this world a better place for my having been here.

The purpose of living predominantly depends on your perspective of what you view as the priorities in your life. Many philosophers have tried to figure out the solution, but all failed. Since you ask me, I shall try to present my mind's ether to you.

The main purpose of life is to reveal to your soul , your conscience, the path to The Almighty through the two vehicles of your consciousness - the mind and the soul. To illustrate it better, it is to unveil yourself from this illusion of a world. Every thing that you see is an illusion. A faint recognition of the real ether on which we now see, feel and hear.

There are many ways of achieving the path to the Almighty. Through your body, you can do the divine arts - Yoga or what ever is taught in your locality. Through your mind you can meditate, think only of The One Above - God.If you are an atheist, then add an "o" to God. It will turn into Good.

Many ways exist yet not known to mind kind. Part of my quest is to seek some of them. You should too.

The journey will be difficult - full of hardships and pains but if you remember a saying - "As you sow, so you reap.". Only if you struggle shall you achieve what you deeply desire. Life is a two-way street - one consisting of easy methods pf achieving only transient pleasure and the other full of hardships and pain but the end result is permanent pleasure, content and peace.

It is not easy to force your self on to the difficult path. You must have a strong desire to go and achieve your goal. If not the eternal truth will never be realized by your soul thus you will be caught in the cycle of birth and death. To at least escape this must you realize the Good or God.

Thus it can be said that you live to die and die to live. Unless you achieve the worldly goal of realizing the Good or achieving God

Hope I have cleared your doubt.

I find life amusing to say the least. There is so much to know,so much we'll never know but the fun of finding out is what it is all about. Of course there are some hard and hurtful lessons but some of the greater moments can more than make up for them or at least make them a little easier to take.
Yes we will all die, everybody knows it but that doesn't stop 'em from livin' nor should it put a damper on your parade neither.Whatever is in death will still be there when U get there so don't worry it,com'on laugh a little, live alittle get happy!
Merry Christmas!

Bertrand Russell writes in his book “The History of Western Philosophy” that there are two perspectives of seeing things. First teleological, which seeks “For what purpose a thing is made?” Second mechanistic, which looks for the cause of a certain thing (cause and effect). When we see around us, we see things which are made by men for a certain purpose, like a table, a chair or a computer. This is why we have a habit of looking for the purpose of things. Even when it comes to the Universe and life itself, we always wonder about their purpose. This is not a correct way of thinking, because the universe and the life are not created for a purpose, they have evolved randomly. In this context, there is no fixed and ultimate purpose of life. Therefore all our purposes depend on our inclinations. Whatever you are interested in is your purpose or meaning of life.

Life is a journey, a quest. There is a saying that says, we must slay a few dragons a long the way.

There are good times and bad...To have the good times we must also go through the bad...If we did not have the bad times, we would take the good times for granted and not appreciate them as much as we should.

I could give, you many different meaning of life, starting with what all the faiths believe and then move on to the great philosphers, but, the meaning of life, your life is ultimately up to you.

What was the purpose of...? having eyes, when you were in the womb of your mother, if you could not see all the beautiful scenery that surround us on earth? The stars, the galaxies, the mountains and the oceans.
What was the purpose of ...? having lungs, if you could not inhale the delicate fragrances of the flowers?
What was the purpose of ...? having arms and legs if you could not climb the highest mountains?
We needed to develop eyes, ears, lungs, arms and feet in a previous world - the womb world of our mother, a physiological world totally different from the world we are living in now- so that we would not be handicapped when we reached this physical world.
In the same manner we need to develop moral virtues in this physical world, so that we may not be handicapped in the spiritual worlds that await us.

The concept of death as explained to mankind in previous ages is so elementary and infantile that it does not satisfy his logical and scientific mind today. That is why everything seems so futile in the end.

it is clear that you do not know Jesus. Our lives are for us to enjoy because there are things that can only be enjoyed while we are in the physical world. the purpose of living is to enjoy life and to help others to do the same. We who die in faith that Jesus is our savior will not simply go into nothingness we shall sleep until Jesus wakes us and then we shall live with him in peace forever. Get a Bible and read the good news in the New Testament.

I think our purpose in life is to leave thing better than we found them. I don't know if that's the meaning of life or whatever, but it sure makes it worthwhile. When you see someone, leave them with a smile, do nice things for people, take good care of those you love, and honor yourself.

Purpose of any purpose is to lead and to show way, but sometimes with purpose you tend to get confused and it might lead to solutions that are purposeless. Yet as human being its our nature to find purpose in everything. the thought that we are purposeless in this world results in so much fear and introspection that we start looking for purpose and when none to find we create them for ourselves and feel satisfied. Sometimes these thoughts might also effect other and they start seeing purpose in your purpose. Living life is the biggest purpose nothing less nothing more.

Just because not all of us can see our purpose doesn't mean we don't have one. I believe that all of us will someday understand our own reasons for being, but it's personal and individual. You can't answer a question like that on the general level.
