Boy this is kind of a dumb question. How many other players on the Giants are about to break the most hallowed record in baseball while being investigated for a scandal, all the while having a book written about him, paying off a girl friend on the side for 10 years; and not very much; while having one of his friends go to prison for the holidays because he wont' narc on him.
It's pretty obvious why he gets all the attention. Come stronger than that.

Yes there are other players on the team.
But 1) the team is losing. Only die hard fans and fantasy players care for a losing team.
2) Barry Bonds is slowly creeping up on the Home Run record. He's past the Babe (who was left-handed as Bonds is), and is on he's way to catching his God father, Willie Mays.
3) Every time steroids, "the clear", BALCO, asterisk, cheating, Hall of Fame... comes up in a conversation about baseball, Barry Bonds' name is going to come out. People don't know whether to cheer him or boo him as he approaches this record.
If the team won without him then they'd get more attention. But they didn't so controversy will dominate the headlines, Mr Barry Lamar Bonds.
