It's true. We exist in a world where we prefer to dream rather than face the reality. Reality is full of responsibilities and other things we don't want to have to deal with, so when you just want to dream and enjoy illusions, you go back to the past because you consider it your hiding place. It's just like that feeling you have when you want to keep sleeping and your mom comes in and wakes you up and hurries you. Since it's the PAST, you don't have to be active, so being there wouldn't imply any responsibilities. It's like going back to 2nd grade when you should be in 8th grade.
But the wrong thing is that hiding in the past keeps you away from seeing things that belong in the present, so you're not aware of all the aspects of the situations you are in. You only see things from the perspective of the past. And while you are in the past, you keep wishing and dreaming. The future represents the ideal, your dreams and wishes. That's why the ideal is confused, because you see it from the past and not from the present. It's like trying to build a bridge and you succeed to build the two edges, but you leave out the middle part. And if you leave out the middle part, you can't use that bridge. :)

Yes, I think society as a whole does create many illusions and fears those illusions. And it makes sense that in order to escape them, they would cling to the past to counteract their fear.

The analogy we, is inappropriation of the lower decks. In
the first landing of the Vulcans he said, and he was doing the
talking, All Jedi are found dead on the dark side of the moon.
Peep pulls know that destruction will not add to the kettle, and
we do know what stew you are cooking. So are you confused?
Think of Ideal and add to the kettle, lets go fishing. There is a
nice riverboat ride to the future.

I think it is ill phrased. If the word 'and' is being used to create a corollary between two incomplete thesis statements, that's one thing. If the word 'and' is being used to convey a listing of two incomplete thesis statements, that's something else again.
Well, you asked...
