A fruit fly lives less long (PS -- everyone, drop the bacteria, he said animal); I'd go with the gastrotich, but I think it's right up there with the fruit fly, and I wonder if that Q & A was just about the sea, so I'm going to go with fruit fly.

No it isn't
One of the "things" however, that cause the Butterfly to be as beautiful as it is,,, is the realization that it does have a brief (Afterlife) span. It was something else before becoming the winged gift it evloves into and lives out the second phase as that Butterfly.

It's the firefly. It only lives until the lights are out. Also.. many microbes have an even shorter lifespan.
