Easier to stay awake when your tired , then sleep when your not tired, because when your not tired you toss and tun and do not fall asleep, When your tired you can keep busy and stay awake, just like I am doing now in a half hour My friend and I are going shopping it is a great sale, and the stores will be very busy, so we are going early, do our shopping quickly we both have a list, and then go home to bed(taking a nap) then enjoy Christmas Eve with family and friends, we are all going to church, Then to my Mom's for a Christmas Eve party. I stayed up wrapping gifts, and cleaning the house, my brother will go to the grocery store, and we will all help cooking. I have even set the table. Life is busy, but lots of fun when you have a big family, and great friends. We have also invited a Senior citizen to join us for the holidays, no living relatives, he would have been by himself all alone and my family even bought him gifts. Apologies for the lengthy answer. Best Wishes and Happy Holidays.

It is good to follow a rhythm that your body follows, ur body has an clock which is very very precise, and u have to know it. people can sleep only 3-4 hours a day and be fresh all through, and there are others who sleep more than 12 hours and still are finding incomplete sleep.

ADJUST YOURSELF TO THE CLOCK OF YOUR BODY, DO ALL THAT IT NEEDS SLEEP WILL NOT BE A PROBLEM.

I sleep around 12 - 1Am and get up by 6 Am, If I get a cat nap in the afternoon for about 15 - 30 minutes, I am fresh throughout.

My total sleep around 6 hours.

I find it easier to stay awake when I know I need sleep than to try to force myself to sleep when my brain is buzzing. I fix another cup of tea and answer another couple of questions. But lying in bed trying to sleep is like "don't think about elephants." The very act of trying is self-defeating. I have to let go of trying. I know that. I try reciting poetry in my head, or lists of things like the names of the sephiroth or the major arcana . . . anything which is committed to memory but which will occupy my mind enough on the familiar that it can wander off into sleep. It will work eventually, but I prefer to get up and do something until my eyes start to close on their own.

I think it is harder to go to sleep if you are not sleepy and it is also awfully painful cause you just toss and turn and think and think and it is hell.
