Most viruses are created by people we call "hackers". Some but not all are made to be malicious and do bad things. There are some that are made to check for security holes in networks. Those hackers actually get paid for finding new ways to penetrate a networked system. There are also some "viruses" that do nthing more than wish you a Happy Valentines Day on 02/14 or some other stupid message. The best way to guard against viruses is to have a good anti-virus detectiona and removal tool like http://free.grisoft.com AVG-Free Version. You also need to make sure that you keep your virus definitions up to date, as new attacks happen every day. Hope this helps

They come from spam and advertisement websites. The majority of viruses come from viewing pornograhpic websites. So if you've been downloading some programs and pictures, I think the computer gave you a warning before downloading such things. Eventually, the viruses are able to infect your computer. Your anti-virus software is out of date and you must update the signatures so that it will recognize the kind of virus and quarantine.

They come from bastard ******* programmers. People actually set out to create these things on purpose, knowing full well what they will do. Some of them are just assholes, but some of them are actually paid to do it in order to target certain people, organizations, or corporations.

they may come from a variety of sources--emails, network, malicious software, infected files, floppies... u name it!
u not only need good firewall and a good, updated antivirus software, but also u need good habits like not opening unsolicited emails, not opening attachments from unknown sources (especially those offering magic cures and enhancements!), not sharing floppies and thumb-drives among too many PCs, etc.

People who make virus's mostly do it to get recognized. Alot of the virus's have codes within them that challenge others who read it and they have their nicknames onthe virus so that other virus makers know who did it
