I sure hope its true. They deserve a team. (with all due respect to Pittsburgh because they deserve to keep their team too but if we're talking a move, why not Winnipeg?)

What has Bettman got against Canada anyway? Hasn't he figured out that most of the players still come from here and that the rest of us are already mostly hockey fans. You don't have to create any markets or teach anybody the game. There may be fewer people in our markets but somebody should tell his marketing geniuses that north of the border there are a higher percentage of people who care about the game and are willing to support it.

it is not a rumour it's one of the top 3 city's in the bidding if the Pens have to leave Pittsburgh. Winnipeg, Kansas City and Houston. read up on it and you will see. and if Basillie comes back in the bidding which he might, he will try and move the team to Canada, and to the people that think Basillie was just going to move them no mater what in Canada well he wasn't he promised Lemieux he would keep the Pens in Pittsburgh if the Isles Capri deal went through. it's Gary Bettman that pushed him away cause Bettmen doesn't want another team in Canada which they should and deserve a team, cause the Canadian dollar is good and with the salary cap any team can in Canada.

conky149e...>>>> they can put more then capacity in there arena almost up to 16,000, plus look at most teams in the U.S that don't even come close to capacity and avg. attendance is around the 14,000 to 15,000 in the U.S so it would be fine.

AwesomeBi...>>>> the Canadian dollar is not as much of a factor as it was 5 years ago, the Canadian dollar is doing really well as of late and only going to get better.

I can see the Pitt Penguins moving to Kansas City or OKC before they move to Winnipeg.....the Manitoba Moose only draw 7000 people a game and Kansas City is building a brand-new arena right downtown.....

I can only see Oklahoma City getting an NHL team if they don't get to keep the Hornets (which they probably will).....I doubt OKC can handle TWO major-league sports franchises

I think that Winnipeg does deserve a chance to prove it can support a team, but I'd rather it come from expansion or another franchise. If the NHL wants to survive it needs to locate it's teams in hockey cities, and I would call Pittsburgh a hockey city. Maybe we should realize that frozen ice and Miami don't mix and send the panthers up north.

Winnipeg, MANITOBA, Canada you mean ! Excellent idea. Wpg needs a hockey team. Wpg has a new arena & it needs to be put to good use. The penguins would stand a good chance of survival out in Winterpeg I'm sure. Has been a mild winter there I think tho. It's been mild where *I* live. :) Manitoba's best team is Manitoba Moose... not even NHL.. Hopefully da Peg gets da Penguins... Peg Penguins :)

To the person above me, you can't compare AHL to NHL crowds. It's a completely different product on the ice. Completely. As a matter of fact, 7000 for an AHL team is well over the league average. There is only one team with a higher average attendance than the Moose (Hershey).

I love the idea. I don't understand hockey economics but it seems that Winnipeg would support the team. How can teams survive where they only sell half the tickets?

I think a lot of people would like it to happen, but $$ will keep the out of Canada, Portland, ME would be a good place, but yet again not a big dollar market. I really can't believe they might play in Missouri or Texas

I seriously doubt, and hope even more, that the Penguins are going anywhere. If ANY team is going to move I seriously doubt that any team will go to Canada simply because it would be much more difficult to turn a profit based on the disparity of values between the Canadian and American dollars.

Although it is possiable I really want them to stay in Pittsburgh. Also I think a few other cities are really going to be ahead of Winnipeg.
