Yes, i hope so, but i believe it will take a lot of time before it happens.
But why are we ever so eager to meet aliens when we haven't met all nice people on earth yet? Have we learnt to live in harmony with each other, as human beings, before we embark on the mission to meet other citizens of the cosmos?
I think we need to sort this out first. Once we do that, we can talk about meeting aliens.

The amount of other cilivilsations that might exist is somewhere in the millions according to the calculations of certain scientists. However the distance between them is about 200 light years. That means that even IF the beings were able to see us in their telescopes, they would be watching light that left the Earth 200 years ago, they'd be watching civilisation as it was in the 1800's.
If it takes this long at the speed of light, then at a slower speed it is obviously unlikely that aliens could SURVIVE coming all this way just to make a few crop circles..!
So, even if we're not alone, we kind of are, given the enormity of space, and just how lightly scattered these hypothetical 'civilisations' are in the universe.

Come to Britain..there are loads of illegal ones here.Aliens come into Britain at the rate of one per minute, which is scary when you consider how big it is.This has not been helped by a completely inadequate immigration policy.
To answer your question seriously....I believe we are not the only
life forms in the universe but the nearest star to us.Proxima Centauri.which COULD have planets around it which MIGHT have the conditions necessary for life is many light years away .This means that if aliens DID want to come here (why should they?..from where they are ,we are a very small planet around a very mediocre star)
it would take them years at the speed of light.Wharp speed is fictional...read Einstein!

We are already here, but you are not ready to meet us and it is unlikely you ever will be ready to meet us before your demise. Over the centuries, your planet was a curious place to visit once or twice and was not considered very interesting . Sure, your wars showed us how undeveloped you are as a species. Your infantile,(in cosmic terms) dependence on god concepts does not bode well for you and neither does your penchant to breed beyond your planet's ability to sustain you. We are now showing an interest in you because it is not often that we get to observe a species commit suicide. You are so close to maturing as a sentient species and it will be a shame to see you kill yourselves. There are just not enough of you becoming rational enough to force the issue. You let the least among you determine your fate, so be it.

I previously believe Earth was unique in harboring life but if you read the work of people like Carl Sagan it appears very likely that there are aliens out there. I don't have a clue if it is intelligent or not. Give it 50 years (we'll have a moon base by 2020, the cosmic ballet continues!)

the quantity of diverse cilivilsations which could favor to exist is someplace interior the thousands of thousands in accordance to the calculations of particular scientists. besides the easy incontrovertible truth that the hollow between them is about 2 hundred gentle years. this signifies that in spite of if the beings were waiting to exercising recurring us of their telescopes, they'd nicely be observing gentle that left the Earth 2 hundred years interior the previous, that they'd be observing civilisation because it grew to change into interior the 1800's. If it takes this lengthy on the fee of light, then at a slower speed that is of course not likely that extraterrestrial beings would favor to stay to inform the tale coming all this kind basically to make some crop circles..! So, in spite of if we on the on the spot at the on the spot are not on my own, we kind of contain, given the enormity of section, and easily how gently scattered those hypothetical 'civilisations' are interior the universe.
