Hi There! I dont think you need to tell the parents. Its a gift after all. It shouldnt matter how much it cost. It was the thought that went into getting the present that matters.

If they ask then you can tell them, but i doubt they will. There are so many deals on books at Xmas that people hardly ever pay full price for them.

Dont worry about it and enjoy the look on the kids faces when they open their presents.

Have a lovely Xmas.

Do not mention the price to them. They know that there are places where you can get books for less than the cover price. They will not know if you did--or did not--pay full price for the books. And, one should not look at the price of the gift--only the gift itself.

Get a pen and mark out the price. I've brought some brilliant books for presents at a lesser price. If they point out that it is too expensive, confess there is this fantastic shop that sells them at a fraction of the price.

It shouldn't matter. The important thing is that you bought something.
You could broach the subject by giving the parents the receipt, on the pretext that 'if they're not suitable you can return them.' Hopefully they won't want to do that, but this way they can see what you paid without any of you having to discuss it.

Take off the price tag or inked it over. There's no need to show the price if it is meant to be a present.

If they say something like , "Oh, you shouldn't have spent so much money," you can tell them that you bought them on sale for much less. I think most people are aware that the jacket price is frequently discounted substantially.

It is the thought of giving that counts the most, not the price of the gift. Say nothing!

just make light of it, say something like, "I found these great books on sale" "I really though....would enjoy them" They don't need need to know the real price...and if you can, remove the price tag I know its hard in books..just stick to the sale story...
