What are your thoughts? Do you believe people are generally good or secretly seek pleasure from other people's pain? A case of Schadenfreude?

My belief is that everyone is essentially good. No one can be 100% good all the time. That said, sometimes it takes someone believing in the goodness they see that makes people stop and think.

I have to add that most people are good, because, and unfortunately, some people grow up not knowing the difference between good and bad. These are the people I feel for the most.

There are also those who don't believe they have anything good to offer. I think these are the dangerous people, because they have to WANT to see the good in order to make some changes to their thinking. They are dangerous because you can put a lot of effort, and emotions, and time, and everything else into trying to help them, but in the end they have to want to help themselves. Help me help you.

Mostly, I believe in people and that has never served me in a bad way. Sometimes you may be disappointed, but remember what led you to believe in the goodness in the first place.

Glad to see there are more people thinking like me out there. Merry Christmas

I believe that to be false. People are generally neither. It's dependent on the individual to be good or bad and what good and bad mean to them. I believe when you generalize things it makes it easier to determine what you don't know. Anne Frank documented her world because she probably had no grip on reality in those kind of circumstances and believed writing her thoughts would bring some cope to it. Same with her generalized theory. If you don't know someone or something assume nothing.

Yes, in general most people are good or at least average in their views and kindness. To seek pleasure from others pain is someone that needs to dominate. These types are controllers in personality or seek assertiveness to feel complete.

Merry Xmas Anastasia!
It's a relief to answer your question because I tend to hope for a yes, however realistically speaking it is a mixed of the 2...
And poor Anne Frank has not survived the worst side of humanity...
I live in a quite racist (little) country but until now, and here in Yahoo, I was a bit unaware of it.
Now, you should see the previous question I answered and you will understand...
Thanks to post that nice question!

If their selfishness does not interfere, people are generally good and nice. But if ur welfare hurts them, and ur sorrows can help them, they will not mind hurting u.

most people in the world are good essentially- nobody is born evil- its just the choice that they make.

but if everyone IS good, then it would be so perfectly boring.
