That would depend on who the 100 others were. If my family where amongst them for sure, but if it was Adolf Hitler and 99 others like him, not a chance.

I've had a very long discussion with somebody about this exact issue. Essentially, I was trying to figure out how people view the value of their lives in comparison to value of the lives of others. It really comes down to two things:

1) It's impossible to create such an unreasonable hypothetical situation. Because it is so unlikely to happen, and nothing even remotely similar happens in every day life, it is very unlikely that we are truly able to predict our actions in this situation.

2) We do not know the nature of the people (although many would argue that this should not matter, as we should not be given the right to let others live or die based on our personal convictions)

Essentially if you change the question to 100 *random* people, then... absolutely, I would save myself for 100 random people. As I think about it objectively (an incredibly difficult thing to do), I WANT to say that I would take my life to save even TWO random lives... merely to avoid having to figure out an unreasonable threshold (and thus determine something about my character that I'm not so ready to confront).

Who will take the guarantee that after giving my life it would save the life of 100 others? Then I have to keep you by my side who can see the result and confirm me meeting me at the hell or the heaven! Agree?

I have actually discussed this before, and never on a 100 person scale .. more widespread. like me vs the world or at least the state.. I have always said yes, I'd sacrifice myself if it meant I was saving a bunch of kids/moms/dads....

how can i be so sure that my life will save the life of 100 others if its taken away in the first place? if so, then staying alive will probably save thousands. :)

No, I wouldn't sacrifice myself. All human life is precious, mine included. How could I take my own life, if I would not take another's?
