The idea that modern medicine and surgery is moving us towards this is a very scary thought, for it is the rich who are able to afford it, and power is only given to the rich.
Just think of it, we are in the mess we are in today, because our countries are run by a group of twisted old men, who thnkfully die with regularity, so new blood and ideas are allowed to spawn.
but if we start extending life, then the rotten politicians who are quite well off as a group will be the first to benifit from this technology, soit is them we will have to suffer for longer and longer.
As for inmortality, we would not have a planet would we, if we can do this much damage in 3 score and ten, then we would be living in a real hell hole by the time we had consumed and dumped two life times, and all want to die.

i do, what i would prefer is everyone somehow knowing they have 3 lives to live...like have it in the back of our mind where we 'know' but don't know if that makes any sense.
with each life we could do as we pleased, but whenever one life was up, that was it, and we would move on to the next and the other life be crossed out. that way people would be persuaded not to live life so extreme and such and just chill out and enjoy their lives.

I think that may be why... if reincarnation is real... that is why we dont remember our past lives, so it doesnt seem so damn long.
