Yes, everything that's goes in your wife's system while she is breast feeding will go to your baby.If your wife wants to drink then she needs to put your baby on formula. If your baby was to for any reason go to the hospital or doctors and have test done and they found alcohol in the babies system you both could get in trouble. If she plans on drinking, but still wants to breast feed the baby. Then she needs to pump enough breast milk to feed him for a couple of days before she drinks. Once she drinks, the breast milk is ruined and has alcohol in it! She needs to pump all the bad breast milk out for a couple of days before she can breast feed him again. But to make things easier for her, just put him on formula!!!!!

Ok first why is the drunk mother holding the baby at all. She can pass out and drop the baby, let alone the side effects from the alcohol. Stop this behavior IMMEDIATELY, so that your question next week won't be "If my wife is smoking pot over my child's head will he get high too?"

The alcohol does transfer into the breastmilk and is unsafe for the baby. One glass of wine is one thing, a drunk woman is another. Why is a breastfeeding woman with a baby drunk? Sounds like there's bigger issues at hand here.

Yes. Anything your wife eats, drinks, smokes or otherwise consumes will be transmitted to the baby through her breast milk. Many of those things, such as drugs or alcohol could seriously hurt the baby.

I agree with everyone else. if she was my wife she wouldn't even have access to alcohol. Her doing that she know damn well in her mind she look stuck-on-stupid. If she really loves the baby that is also apart of you since you created the infant then she would consider your feelings before anything else. Since she's pregnant, that means she'd be too tired to walk to the nearest liquor store! ;D Just let her know you not down with what she is doing. You want a great healthy kid also.

Yes anything your wife eats and drinks goes into the baby and can actually kill your baby. You really need to do something about this situation to protect your baby. If your wife HAS to drink you need to get your baby on formula instead of breast milk.

if your wife is drinking while breast feeding, there is something seriously the matter. either she has no clue what's good for her baby, or she might be suffering from postpartum depression. be responsible and get it checked out!! this could cause major problems for everyone if it just keeps going.

Basically, yes. The alcohol will be passed through to your baby and your baby's liver is very immature and cannot possibly cope with it. If your wife can't stop getting drunk, she shouldn't be breastfeeding.
