I heard that some cars with a soft top have a disclaimer saying that going over 70 mph's is not recommened with the top on. The Ferrari 550 Barchetta says not to do over 70mph with the top on. So are their any other cars that have this same issue??

Any car roof is pulled upward by air rushing over it. This is referred to as the Bernouli effect -- the same thing that makes wings lift airplanes into the air. The faster you go, the more force is generated upward on the roof. Similarly the hood and trunk lid are also pulled up, and the doors and side windows are pulled out.

Intuitively, the convertible soft top is not as strong as a hard top and can't take as much force before it rips apart. That's why the manufacturer would like you to take it easy - so they don't have to replace the top under warranty as often.

You can drive it as fast as you want, as often as you want. Just know that any soft top will rot someday and the more you abuse it the sooner that day will come.

Oh yea, I have an 87 Mustang GT convertible, super charged, "locked and loaded", I went screaming past a twin Turbo WRX with a kid in it that was just brought to school (OLD STYLE) with his mouth open at well over 115 MPH, it whistled like Hell but, Junior got "Spanked" BIG TIME ! I was greeted by him at the next light with "What the hell's in that thing, it's WILD" ! !
