In TFT lcd monitors manufacturer specifies the viewing angle such as 170/170 @ contrast ratio>10. what is meaning of the term @contrast ratio > 10.

First, viewing angle is, well, the angle of view available. Straight on is considered 0. Move off to one side, and measure the angle until you can't see the image any more. Double that and you got the viewing angle.

@ contrast ratio > 10 means even at that extreme angle, the image still maintains a viewable contrast of 10:1 or more. If you try viewing LCD side on, you'll notice that the more aside you look, the darker the image. So even if you view it almost edge on you'll still see 10:1 contrast at the minimum. (of course, nowadays LCD monitors should do at least 350:1 or better in normal viewing...)
