Sick kitten what can I do?

My sister has two cats. The mother that has given birth three times in the last 2 years(she is getting her fixed in January) she is a good mommy but she just had a litter of 4(normal for her) they will be alomst 5 weeks old on Christmas Day. One died 2 days after birth and one of them now is losing weight, she is still feeding off of the mom, but the other 2 kittens are starting to eat soft food. She has been throwing up (it is white and runny). I told my sister to take it to the vet she won't have the money till in January, however I don't want to see anything bad happen to the kitten. My sister won't let me take it to the vet, is there anything I can do to help the kitten. I have already called animal control since she wouldn't let me take it to the vet. What else can I do?

Hi there...in all honesty if the kitten doesn't seek immediate medical attention it most likely pass away. Kittens are very fragile so it doesn't take much to be fatal. If you have a good trusting relationship with your sister I'd suspect if you are willing to take the kitten to the vet immediately she would respect your decision rather than feel it's undermining it. As the person above me noted, denying animals any type of necessary medical treatment throughout most of the western world is considered animal neglect/cruelty and can be punishable by law. Contacting animal control can verify this as a fact rather than trusting our statements here in Yahoo Answers.

By asking this question here gives me the notion you have enough compassion to do what is right regardless of your sister's decision and finances. Those can be worked out later after you take care of the kitten's well-being first if it's not too late. I hope you will at least take this into consideration and act expediently on the kitten's behalf.

If the kitten has fleas this is most likely contributing to the sickness. Before anything else, if you cannot afford a vet, is to get rid of the fleas they can actually kill the kitten.Look at the kittens gums, if they very pale the kitten is probably anaemic.Also if the kitten has ingested any of the fleas he/she most likely has tapeworms too. You can see these worms as little white segments that are in the stool. First you need to get rid of the fleas that are on the kitten, and since he is already sick you need to be very care full with what you use. Try giving the kitten a warm bath in a warm bathroom using a mild baby shampoo, once you have done this you are going to have to pick by hand any remaining fleas dead and alive off the kitten. While you pick the fleas off put them in a cup or container with water in it so you can toss it in the toilet and flush it when you are finished. Keep the kitten warm until he/she is completely dry. Make sure there are no fleas in your carpet, bedding etc.,so you won't get an infestation from the fleas that came in on the kitten.Also when this is all done you also might want to go the grocery store and buy (in the baby section) a product called Pedilyte non flavored. Give the kitten a little from a syringe (without the needle) a few times through out the day. This puts back some of the electrolytes which may have been lost also you might try mixing this with a little baby food cereal slightly warm to get the kitten's appetite back. If he has worms you will need to contact a vet to ask him what you can use to get rid of them since the kitten is so young do not use anything from the pet stores, over the counter pills on such a young kitten! If you have a Petsmart store near you they sometimes have Vet that works with them you could call and ask them what they recommend. This is not an easy task to do all these things and alot of times no matter what you do, you may not be able to save the kitten. I wish you luck and hope you can help the kitten.

See if you can't "smuggle" the cat to the vet anyway, and then your sister can pay you back when she has the money. Hopefully, she will understand that you have the kitten's best interest in mind, which hopefully, she does too. This way, the kitten gets the proper treatment in time, and your sister can still pay for it when she has the money. Just a suggestion.

make sure the kitten is warm. i find that if you put some water in the food it softens it up and you can put warm milk on your finger and feed the baby if it can't feed off the mom or kitten chow. this isn't the best time of year for five week old kittens, but try to help out the best you can. i wouldn't take the kitten to the vet ether he/she will make it or well maybe it was a weak batch. i know it's sad but allot of kittens don't live if they get like what it sounds like( to keep the chain in balance) but you never know.love all of them and things will work out.

Your sister is guilty of animal cruelty. This kitten will die. Animal control is normally a useless local government organisation and you need an ASPCA to seize the kitten and get it help.

You sister needs to allow you to take it to the vet or give the kitten to someone else who will.

Make the cat some warm milk with a little caro syrup and egg and if need be feed it with an eyedropper or syringe. It will have eat about every three hours but you HAVE to remember to wipe it's butt regularly. They need stimulation to go to the bathroom or they will get toxic poisoning and die. I have saved MANY a kittens this way. GOOD LUCK.

Why would your sister not let you take the kitten to the vet? I think you should steal the kitten and take it yourself. They are just to small to usually get better on their own. Good luck.

i have a sick kitten too, go to the vet, tell him the what is happening to it and get some medicine for it, (medicine will help it a lot) and let it sleep A LOT then in a few days it will be better i hope yours is ok

try not to feed the kitten for few days...see if u r giving healthy food to the kitten! u can try to feed it some fruits and veggies...but don give to much! may upset it stomach!some plain uncook oatmeal is veri good to kittens! give it 1/4 of it 4 a day or two...check if its' habitat is clean and have fresh air...if it does not work ...u better bring it to the vet..be 4 sometime bad happens!

Give the kitten a little pepto- bismol.
I once had a kitten that i'd gotten from the animal shelter that was throwing up and my vet recommended Pepto... it worked!!
Get a syringe, remove the needle part and squirt the pepto in the mouth.
