Endocrine & exocrine glands. Why, why must exo secrete into a duct first?

as in, whats the diff.. why d u have to go thru a duct first then the blood

Actually, products of exocrine gland travels through ducts only. They do not go through the blood stream. This is why they are so different from those produced by the endocrine gland.

The reason why they do not is because they have specific target sites and do not require to flow along the blood to all parts of the body. The ducts would take them to where they want. Sweat duct carries the sweat to the skin. They do not require to go through the whole blood stream because all your other organs do not see any use for sweat. Same goes for all exocrine gland.

The endocrine gland products are things like hormones and they require to be in all/many parts of the body to show its effect. Hence, they are brought into the blood stream.

I do not think that there are any products from exocrine gland that goes into the blood stream. If you do find one, please enlighten me.

let us begin by understanding that the endocrime glands tsecrete hormone which are target specific. Thus they mix with blood to reach the organs that they are targeted upon. The other gland's secretion depends upon these hormones. (eg Vasopressin acts on kidneys to absorb more or less water) Thus hormones if received by any other organ are not useful or harmful to that organ however with exocrine glands ducts are necessary as their secretions and productions may cause harm to nearby tissue's and sysytems. For eg if the urine was not excreted by the urino-genital duct it would mix with blood and hence urea recirculated in the body!
