I live in southern West Virginia, ( no WV jokes please...I've heard them all.....lol), ANYWAY each year we go to a Christmas tree farm thats about 10 miles from us, the owners, who are home sometimes, and sometimes not..have left a .......price list....a saw, ....and a locked box ...for the tree money, all on the front of their barn....we cut down our choice of tree, use the saw, and leave the money in the locked box..... could this happen where you live?...I love this rural area, and its trusting people. Oh and by the way, price of the trees are 15 dollars for long needle, 20 for short....any height...., our tree this year is 7 foot. (short needle)

No, I live in Phoenix. In a matter of ten minutes, meth freaks would run over the money box, throw it in the back of their truck (or barely running EL Dorado), set the trees on fire, and then rob the farmers at sawpoint.

Oh ya...
We live in western Oregon. . Some folks out here don't lock thier doors...ever. And then there are some that do. It never used to be that way though.
I remember, (not all that long ago) when everybody left everything open. Times are getting strange and it's even hit out in the country. It's really too bad.
It's a standard thing to come home and see out yard full of people and kids running in and out of the house getting soda and stuff. It's nice to come home and see that we got company and that they have fed our dogs and sometimes mowed out lawn while we were in town or something.
We've had barn sales out here and they did the same thing, with putting chaining a money box up so you could put what you thought was worth whatever you bought.
Dang....you pay allot for a tree. Of course we live in Oregon and all you see all day long are semi trucks lined up on a roads to get their Christmas trees to haul around the states.. so Christmas trees are kinda like passed around.. Allot of trading of trees untill everyone gets what they were looking for... It's kinda comical to see how serious some people get about swapping up for a tree... But it's been like this for years...
....and I really hope that it stays this way..
You are one of the few people that have a wonderful, beautifull place to be spending your life.
Can you imagine the people in the city that can't even see the starts because the lights from all the hoopla is too bright?
But....then again...if they weren't where they are now...then we wouldn't have what we are so blessed to have..
Enjoy your life...
and
Merry Christmas!!!

I live in an inner city area of a big UK city. I think the collection box would disappear very quickly but saying that I lost my wallet in the local supermarket and someone handed it in, so not everyone is dishonest.

It must be really refreshing when you can live in a place where 99.99999999% of the people don't steal.

But I understand the price is high in America where over 1.4 million human beings are in jail and generally treated in an totally abysmal way and many denied their basic human rights.

Apologies if this appears off topic because it is nice, it really is nice that few steal in your area but not so nice that there are so many people in jail to achieve this

No way. No one's THAT trusting here and in the majority of the world. It's like when you trick-or-treat and get to a house that leaves the entire bowl of candy outside... that's just pure idiocy. Someone is BOUND to just take the entire bowl.

Anyway, this year (and last), there's no tree for me. I don't want to be bothered with the whole set-up. Commercialmas isn't worth it... screw tradition. I open up presents as I get them. Hehe.

I recently came back from Maui and there were flower stands all based on the honour system as well...50 cents for a protea stem, etc...I've also seen it in rural areas around home (Vancouver BC)..Too bad the whole world isn't like that now.

You are lucky to be a Virginian. Here in the Philippines especially in slum area although you place your money in vault, when you check it, gone, no more.
