about nintendo ds cart.?

Does nintendo ds cart contain internal battery? I heard it's just like a sd card. Considering the small size of a nds cartridge , fitting a battery into it would be a challenge.

I understand it uses flash memory to save. However, there ought to be an internal clock. The internal clock does need battery right?
