Headed by the local rabbi this group wants the community to fork out $19,800 to install sensors at some pedestrian crossings because they deem pushing a button to cross the road as "work".

I wonder if they flush their toilets, turn on their TVs.

When did this Jewish button pushing ban begin?
Seems like another bizarre religious practice to me.

It's not bizzare at all, religious Jews do not push any button that may activate an electronic device, of which a signal is.

However, the easiest way to resolve it is how most other places do it... reprogram the stop lights so they have a longer delay time on Saturday.
