Yep, homes are cheap.
Taxes on the homes are really HIGH, especially compared to KY.
There are few, to no jobs, here. If you are struggling in Kentucky, you will be starving in Michigan.
IF you can find a good job before you buy a home in Michigan, then you might want to consider it.
But I wouldn't. Michigan is a welfare state. The jobs are dissappearing and the welfare rolls are growing.
The way it looks now, and has looked for the last 5-6 years, is like this state is going to dry up and blow away. As soon as we pay off the bank and our building (about 5 more miserable years) we are closing our business and moving to a state that does not tax us to death.
And, Flint has some horrible areas that I surely would not live in. Ever.
Merry Christmas

I currently live in Cleveland, Ohio. I used to live in Saginaw, Michigan. Flint is a very dirty, gang and drug infested area. There also are not any job opportunities within the city limits. Saginaw was four exits from Flint, and you will wind up traveling to Saginaw, Bay City, and other cities to work. The real estate is inexpensive due to the grimy area that you would be living. However, if this is the only opportunity that you have to own a home, and think that you have a solid job lead. "Then Good luck."
However, I would never want to stay in Saginaw, or Flint.

Nah. i attempted that as quickly as. The orangutan saved letting a bunch of Chrysler workers in, and that they left beer cans and roaches in all places. I had to fumigate whilst they left.

I would recommend watching the documentary "Roger and Me", by Michael Moore. That should shed some light for you.
