This probably crosses the PC line (which is why it will get thumbs down), but it's based on what I've seen:
In white culture, most definitly. Particularly the girls, but the guys are catching up with what I've noticed. In black schools, not really, it's very different. It's more rare from what I've seen.
And if you've noticed, black guys in general try there best to appear more masculine, while I'm seeing more white guys going for the androgenous look. Just look at the Gap or acrobie & fitch (spelled wrong probably) advertisements. Not sure if these guys are gay or bi, but they sure get mistaken as girls sometimes with all that long pretty hair and dainty thin bodies. And white chicks seem to dig the 'I'm not sure if he's a boy' look, while black girls usually are into guys who look and act like guys. Just look at the rappers on black magazine adds. So I think it's growning more-so in certain cultures. Asian culture may be another.
It makes me wonder if some cutures are more sexually repressed, or if other cultures simply have more genetically gay/bi people in it while other cultures have more straight people. Who knows, but there's a clear difference in how these different cultures are with sexuality.
Just my thoughts.

I think more and more people at a younger age have been given an intellectual answer on what a bisexual is -- and they match the feelings they have with bisexuality -- they now self-label themselves as such. When I was young, people primarily thought of two sexual groups: straight people and gays/lesbians. If the term bisexual were ever used, it was something out of pornography (or said in jest) referring to someone who would go to bed with both a male and female partner at the same time.
When that feeling of being attracted (at some intensity level) to both sexes does not go away -- and the bisexual fellow or gal does not fully identify with gays or lesbians, they now realize they are bisexual in orientation.

Yes, and it's a good thing but it's not just in schools it's everywhere. The hatemongers and religious right are slowly losing power and resorting to hateful, ignorant attacks, which further destroys their credability. People are no longer afraid to express feelings that they have always had. We can thank the gay community for having the guts to stand up for themselves.

People are just more comfortable to admit same-sex attraction. And some of those experimenting with gay relationships may wind up in straight marriages. It's kind of nice.

the rate of bisexuals is growing -everywhere-, as more people are realizing and coming out bisexual. this is because of an increased acceptance and awareness of sexual orientation that is perpetuating in our society.

Yea it is because in school people are always quick to hop on the bandwagon. I feel bad for kids who are actually gay/lesbian because the fakers give them bad names.

Yes because more and more females are becoming desperate for attention from guys who find the whole 3-some thing a 'turn-on' that they are willing to do anything
