A lawyer - I am prolly going to get a few thumbs down for saying it this way but this is like comparing a CEO and an administrative assistant. The lawyer could NOT do his job without the paralegal to do most, if not all, of the research work but the paralegal will make less money and not get the glory if that makes sense.

Well, if you freeze in front of a crowd...don't be a lawyer. If you don't like to be the center of attention...don't be a lawyer. Being a paralegal has advantages, like being able to find another job if the firm you are working for has problems. True you won't make as much money, but someone else has to worry about paying your salary. As an attorney (especially as an independant or in a small firm) you have a lot more responsibility for the bottom line. Talk to people in both professions, at business colleges (they should be able to refer you to some of their graduates that are working as paralegals), and even guidance counselors. If you do become a paralegal, there is no rule that says you can't get your law degree later on. And you will have the advantage of on-the-job experience and knowing this is the field you want to be in before you invest 3 years of your life and an awful lot of money in law school. Best of luck to you!!!

The lawyer requires more education, and the paralegal reports to the lawyer. (The lawyer or attorney, is the boss or employer of the paralegal. Both are good occupations. It depends upon how much education you wish to put into your life occupation.

basically a be conscious to the clever that i became instructed, via my buddy's mom whom worked in HR for a regulation workplace, that maximum paralegals desire a bachelor's degree in 'some thing' and ideally have finished an approved software via the ABA. A criminal professional had instructed me that he can in uncomplicated terms employ a pupil in regulation college and not could pay advantages as adversarial to a paralegal. If nonetheless taking a pair classes, please forgo those inner maximum $$ tech faculties.
