the black paste under their eyes provides vision enhancement when the receiver looks back into the sun or lights by helping to block the glare of the light. as your skin sweats, especially under the eyes, the wetness becomes like a mirror that actually magnifies the brightness. there is no definite remedy for the glare but the paste which is black matte, reduces it by approximately 60%.

Because for the football players it makes it easier for them to see...... It has something to do with how it absorbs the sun instead of reflecting it
