The 'Santa Claus' archetype is considered to be universal, therefore existing in the collective unconscious of all humans. It is thought that this particular archetype is the part of oneself that encourages being charitable and joyous. Not believing in the Santa archetype is akin to dismissing a part of one's own self.
My favorite version of 'Santa' is the Norse God, Odin or Woden.

I once was told that St. Nick was a real person indeed. An admirable one at that. Since his passing the legend has continued and grown in proportion.
Is Santa real? I think his story is based on a glimmer of fact. Then again, isn't that guy in the Santa suit at the mall a real guy?
Cheers and happy holidays!

I think Santa Claus was actually a real person in the past he may have looked similar and a gave gifts to people. But today's its a child's myth that does not hurt anyone just like Disneyland.

Santa Claus is an American invention. and goes under different names, like father christmas, or the chrirsmas elf, in som other parts of the world, in others countries, there is no comparable character. They may just celebrate christmas.
