My mom didn't find out she was pregnant with me until she was 5 months along... she had her period all the way up till the 8th month! :-) But anyway, depending on how MUCH you drink every week, your baby will probably be ok. It's still got a lot of developing to do so you probably haven't done any significant damage. But STOP NOW. I would also ask your OB/GYN if there is any kind of test they can do just to make sure. Good luck, and congrats!

Go to the doctors as soon as possible. As far as I know from classes I have taken even a small amount of alcohol can hurt a fetus. But just go to the doctor and pray that everything turns out ok. And stop drinking until after the baby is born at least.

Your baby will probably be a low birth weight which is bad. Smaller babies cry more and wake up more at night. Fetal alcohol symdrome is a terrible thing to do to an unborn baby. They can come out with some learning disabilities too. Why would anyone drink if they even suspected that they were pregnant. That poor baby. Do what you are suppose to do...no soda, alcohol, raw fish, hotdogs, delimeats, tuna, and take a vitamin everyday. I wish you luck.

Tell you what; blaming your self will not make it any better. Stop drinking, check with a good doctor, do some sports and have a very good diet with the vitamins described by the doctor (live a healthy life) but most of all PRAY to God. God will see you changing to protect your baby and to have a normal healthy baby and God will not let you down.

it depends upon how much alcohol you were consuming. fetal alcohol spectrum disorder can be very mild...small developmental delays, to extremely severe. the first 3 months are the most critical, in rapid development of the fetus. this first trimester is when some of the worst damage can be done.
my adopted son was "pickled" when he was born. his bio-mom binge drank on a daily basis until she was 4 months along. then she cut down to periodic binge drinking, while also using drugs and smoking weed. he was flat when he was born. he had no sucking or babinski reflexes. the doctors didn't have much hope for him, and labeled him as "failure to thrive." he screamed in pain as he went through withdrawls for 4-5 weeks, and had to be forced-fed. he had seizures hourly during this time also. he had extreme developmental delays and became extremely hyperactive and psychotic at the age of 4, and was in classes for the severely disturbed during his school years. he was violent, destructive, and very difficult to raise. he is 21 now. he lives in the streets on and off, due to going on and off his meds, and having very poor boundaries, impulse control, and socialization skills. he has several mental health diagnoses, and will require life-long mental health support. living with him caused his siblings and myself heavy-duty levels of stress on a daily basis. it sounds like you didn't know you were pregnant while you were drinking early on...i sincerely hope your baby is 100% healthy. please don't drink anymore alcohol for the rest of your pregnancy. fetal alcohol spectrum disorder is rapidly on the rise in our country, and is 100% preventable.

You should check with your doctor, its usually ok to have a maximum of a glass of wine daily (double check with your doctor) so if you've had small amounts of alcohol on a weekly basis, you should be ok. But please, speak to your doctor and lay off the booze.
