My family stays up past midnight Xmas eve, and we all open one. Then we open the rest when we get up in the morning.

Boxing day never heard of that, i know that some people do it on christmas eve like I will be doing with my dad and his family but then on Christmas morning going to open gifts with mother and her family. It really depends on how you have been brought up. But boxing day seems to late since the 25 is christmas . would you want to open you gifts a day after your birthday.
