same as the 1st answer really,think when you go to a web site there are always adverts,like on yahoo,yahoo is a popular site and to advertise your product there you have to pay money to them to have it there,just like TV during the prime time peroid of the day it costs more to put an add there than late at night or to have the middle page of the news paper all devoted to your product or story,just like the front page,and since the number of views of a particular web page can be recorded in the same way as sales of a news paper or the amount of people watching a particular channel sets the cost of who pays the most gets the better deal.
In other ways people can sell your email addy link,this is where spam comes from,if an email addy is operational it could be a potential sale to the product or subscription of the contents in the email.

Obviously, the web-site creator gets payment of the advertisements on its site, Whenever u visit any site u will find several commercial advertisement s and links on it, The original web site owner is paid through this links, and advertisements on the site.
The more the Site has visitors the more the site owner is benefitted.
