What kind of fluid can I use for alternative clutch fluid for a 2005 Chevy Cavalier? Need ans. ASAP! They don't sell clutch fluid here, and I need an alternative as quick as possible so I can have this car shipped out.

** Robert * The guy who owns the car, also races it, and some wire box had worn a hole right through the fluid hose. When it was repaired, they did not refill it and just handed us the keys. He is in the states, and we are here in Europe, and are trying to get it shipped to him.

Hydrualic clutches use DOT 3 brake fluid.

If you are talking long term, there is no alternative than ordinary old brake fluid.

If you need a quick fix to get you out of trouble, you can (in an emergency) use water. Water does not compress so it makes a good substitute for an emergency.

If you choose to use water, you should switch back to brake fluid asap. Before switching back to brake fluid, the system MUST be flushed out with Metholated Spirits (it absorbs water) several times before refilling with brake fluid and bleeding etc.

why does a two year old car need clutch service? dot 3 brake fluid will work.

Your clutch uses ordinary DOT3 brake fluid.

Tip: The fluid should never leak. If the level is low, your clutch disk is probably near the end of its life. If you're shipping it overseas for you own use, get it checked out before you ship it!

various GM automobiles don't have a dipstick for the transaxle they have a plug on the realm of thansaxle (very comparable to rear ends on rear wheel force automobiles) so this is mandatory to to take it to the broker.
