they claim that there are more straights having aids than gays
yeah,it is true,but don't cheer too early
in USA, 56,8% male who are infected with HIV are those who adopt gay behavior
but the gays will shout out:"look at africa, most aids patients are straight"
now what is the difference between an average straight american and an average straight african?
the previous has better medical care, and is better educated
the latter does not
and an average gay american also has better medical care and is better educated than an average straight african
and why there are such a small number of gay africans that have aids?
because straight africans are hostile to gays,so the gay africans don't express themselves freely and they are safer
that the best way to protect gays from infecting HIV is to discriminate against them is quite ironic
Aids is not a straight disease,it's more likely the disease of those whose name i'm so afraid to mention for fearing to be reported by them

AIDS is a human disease. I don't believe that there is anything gay or straight about it. I don't think it really matters where it started, as we should be focusing our efforts on finding a cure.

Unfortunately, the fastest growing population which is contracting AIDS are young, college aged women. It does not only affect gay men...it affects everyone.

I would answer that question with this - Why do certain people make assumptions about what other people think? The point is HIV/AIDS is not about gay'straight anymore it is about survival. A horrendously huge amount of people are at risk and dying needlessly. We all need to get wise, regardless of sexual preference, stop finger pointing and work together to beat this disease (and many others) together.

ok...you sure bent that into a crazy direction! You are a fraction of an inch away from saying black people shouldn't be allowed to have sex because a lot of black people have AIDS, so it's 'better' for them if we discriminate against them and ban them from having sex. Statistics show that HIV/AIDS is taking a major toll on the black community. Save lives with discrimination!! Wow.

So, basically your saying, "No matter what you type, I have my mind made up. So shut up and listen to me tell you that your wrong and evil?" Nope, not gonna let you get away with it. Not at all.

It was reported this summer by the U.N. that 35,000,000 people worldwide have aids. Eighty-five percent of those are straight. That means 29,750,000 straight people have aids. That leaves 5,250,000 gays have aids. You do the math.

I cannot answer for YOUR city, but in Dallas, Texas, Howie Daire (a gay man) was the founder of the first organization there (The Oak Lawn Counseling Center) which provided services to PWAs. Candy Marcum and Tigie Lancaster, both lesbians, were there to help him and I came on board just a few months later. All the other organizations in Dallas which subsequently provided services to PWAs were also started by gay people in the community. 100% of the money raised in those days in Dallas came from the generous contributions of the gay community. In 1988 and 1989 I was flying almost weekly to Washington D.C. to participate in one of the very first research projects for an A.I.D.S. vaccine at the National Institute of Health. How DARE you to suggest that we in the gay community were doing nothing!!! EDIT: I didn't tell you the year that Howie Daire started the Oak Lawn Counseling Center. The years that I mentioned above were YEARS after I first began. Howie Daire was the first one in our community to even be aware of the coming problem and he was the one who alerted us all and got the ball rolling. By 1988 (the date I mentioned above) we were all well under way.

here's some education for you:

from worldbank.org
The most common mechanism of transmission is sexual (70-80 % of global infections, and most of these are heterosexual). Mother to child infections account for 10 % of infections, and the balance are through blood and blood products (including intravenous drug abuse).

from http://www.unaids.org:

Every minute of every day, a child under the age of 15 becomes infected with HIV. In most cases, the virus is transmitted by the HIV-infected mother; transmission can occur in the womb, during birth or through breastfeeding. Ninety percent of the more than 5 million children who have been infected were born in Africa.

Sex between men occurs in all societies without exception, although in many it is heavily stigmatized and sometimes officially denied. Largely because of the taboo, the female partners of men who have sex with men are often unaware of their partner's other liaisons, and the threat posed to themselves.

Sex between men is thought to account for between 5 and 10% of global HIV infections, although the proportion of cases attributed to this mode of transmission varies considerably between countries. It is the predominant mode in much of the developed world.

Women comprise about half of all people living with HIV worldwide. In sub-Saharan Africa, where the epidemic is worst, they make up 57% of people living with HIV, and three quarters of young people infected on the continent are young women aged 15-24.

In unprotected heterosexual intercourse, a female is about twice as likely as a male to contract HIV from an infected partner. Furthermore, in addition to their higher biological vulnerability, girls and women are made particularly vulnerable to HIV by conditions of gender inequality

I suggest you do your research before posting stupid uneductated questions like this

When are people going to stop being so ****ing stupid. Diseases aren't gay or straight. It's a sexually transmitted disease. It's passed in bodily fluids exchanged during sex, or when blood is exchanged during activities such as drug use. Now stop being so damn dumb!

It's lame to call it a gay or straight disease. Anyone can get it.
