I was screwing in the whammy bar in my electric guitar, then I noticed it just kept getting harder. Then I tried to unscrew it since it couldn't go any farther. Well, while unscrewing it, the screw broke and half of the screw part is still stuck inside the hole. Is it still possible for it to be fixed or taken out? The broken screw just fits in perfectly in the hole. Is the whammy bar also necessary? (I'm still a beginner and should I still need to fix/learn about it?)

the whammy or 'Vibrato" bar is not absolutely necessary to play the Guitar. It only depends on what sort of music you are playing. If you have broken of the screw where it fits then you will probably have to buy a new tremolo unit. Since you are only a beginner, you should be able to get by without it. But this of course depends on how much the guitar is worth, and how much you want to spend. Some tremolo units, like Floydd Rose etc can be quite expensive.

A whammy bar is not necessary. A screw extractor would be needed to remove the screw or easyout.

if the screw threads are stripped you will need to have it re threaded.to remove the broken part you will need a ezout to remove the threaded part.the whammy bar may end up being necessary for you and it may not but you will always want the option of using it so fix it.
