I believe no.
Even if there was another atack there are a lot of people out there that will not trust the government and whatever explanation they give. and then there are a lot of people that will believe whatever is told to them.
This country will never be united again. The division is too great.

It was not slavery that started the civil war, it was republican chicanery!

I believe that if this country is not united soon in its war on terror, it will be united later under Islamic law.
That is the objective of alQueda. Direct quote:

Vietnam divided America like no other event since the Civil War. UNITED STATES of AMERICA is not some fragile collection of territories like former USSR, Yugoslavia, Iraq - the next 'country' to disintegrate.

I think that for the time being you are right, but I believe that in time, hopefully not too much time, most of the people will wake up and see this world as it can be, spiritually evolved and enlightened. And, as much as religion and politics shouldn't mix, on some level it has to, because spiritual beliefs do color political beliefs whether we like it or not.
