The name brand of memory doesn't determind how fast it that memory is; the IC chips on each specific type and speed do. For instance, Company A sells some of the slowest RAM ever made, along with some of the more expensive RAM, that's about the fastest ever made.

In other words, it would be like me telling you that Ford's are the fastest American car ever made, then you go buy a Ford Fiesta, and then you say "You lied; my car is nowhere near as fast as my uncle's Corvette". See, Chevrolet's aren't fast, only Corvette ZR6's are fast. See the difference? Crucial is a RELIABLE brand, though, as is OCZ, Corsair, G.Skill, and a few others.

You should look at throwing that p4 processor in the garbage and getting an intel core 2 duo.

I've found http://www.crucial.com to have excellent quality of memory. They also have a tool on their site that helps you select memory.
