I have had a tendency of getting a lot of spyware with IE. After some time I switched to Firefox which was an improvement, but then I went to Opera, which I like a lot more and have had no spyware or viruses. It also has no known vulnerabilities for the time being, which is an added bonus.

It doesn't carry viruses, but it is more vulnerable to attacks because of its extensive use. I prefer Firefox, which is smaller, faster and safer than IE. You can get it from http://www.mozilla.com/

Tip: Always keep IE as your 'default browser', if you are using other browsers like Firefox or Opera.

I use IE7, and I like it. I have actually never gotten a virus with it and I download many programs daily. Some people reccomend FireFox, you can use what you want.
