Yes, we've been having small earthquakes along the Hayward fault this month. It doesn't necessarily mean that we're going to have a larger quake soon. But, someday we will have another large quake in the Bay Area, just because of where we live. On the other hand, we don't have tornadoes and hurricanes. I am giving you a website that will tell you about the local earthquake hazards--but also tells you what you can do to be more prepared. Even in a big earthquake, you will probably be pretty safe in your home or school. But, you will need food, water, cash. First aid stuff might be helpful too. This site will give you lots of useful information.

The most common types of earthquakes are those where two plates meet, as in your state along the San Andreas Fault. As the plates push against each other, pressures build up until one or the other gives way.

In general, the longer the interval between quakes, the greater the pent-up pressure and thus the greater the scope for a really big jolt. This is a particular worry for Tokyo, which a hazards specialist once described as "the city waiting to die" (not a motto you will find on many tourism leaflets).

Tokyo has already suffered one of the most devastating earthquakes in modern times. On 1 September 1923, the city was hit by what is known as the Great Kanto quake. Since that time, Tokyo has been eerily quiet, so the strain beneath the surface has been building for eighty years. Eventually it is bound to snap.

In essence, it is a good thing if some light tremors happen in your area from time to time as it helps to release those pent-up pressures underneath. I live in the Philippines (along the Pacific Rim of Fire) so it is just "normal" for us to get a 4.5 jolt twice or even THRICE a year. I don't lose sleep over it, and neither should you.

If you are still worried about earthquakes, might I suggest that you relocate to Florida, eastern Texas or the upper Midwest? I read somewhere that those are---so far---the only places in the US almost entirely immune from earthquakes.

some thing uncontrollable is in many circumstances up... the more beneficial section is to not problem about it. help in case you need to, yet do not panic... that's totally a waste of time in so that you'll nicely be doing more beneficial to study diverse sentient beings (like those interior the earthquake zones as an get at the same time) and in go back, with the help of ability of default you'll receive happiness on your man or woman no count number what the problem. To us Buddhists, we've faith that each and each body topics upward push up basically with the help of motives and stipulations (for this reason plate techtonics) are replacing and impermanent. This too shall bypass, even even although there is suffering now. _()_

It means that pressure is building up in the area and the small earthquakes released some of it. The best thing is to move away from California. If you are a Republican then move to Texas. If you are a Democrat it is best to stay in California.

well realize that your near the San Andreas, but I'm sure you know that,I'm sure you have nothing to worry about since the second one wasnt that strong,it means it wasnt a precurser to a stronger quake since the second one was weaker,Of course I live in Vegas, but used to live in LA,and just recently moved here so I understand your fear.Northridge wasnt that fun either, try looking at the USGS site and it will show you all the activity going on
