If you can - wait until you get your first ultrasound - get a copy of it.
Then create a daddy-to-be card with the ultrasound picture inside so he doesn't only know that he's going to be a dad - he sees it for himself.

Tell him to went to the doctor and found out you were going to have something "removed" in nine months and that he needs to be there for you. When he asks what you are having removed just say, "Oh, its nothing serious . . . just a baby." I think that would be really cute, or the pregnancy test thing they mentioned above. You should also try and send him regular pics of your belly. My friend was in the military and his wife did that and he would kiss her belly on the pic every night before he went to sleep. : )

Do you mean you got pregnant while he was gone? or do you mean, you got pregnant, and then he left? I'm assuming you mean you got pregnant, and now hes going to be gone for a year... send him the first ultrasound pic if you have one! Tell him as soon as possible... dont keep it from him. My hubby was gone for my entire pregnancy.. we were very lucky that he was home for the birth. It was hard having him away, but I kept him contantly updated. Take lots of pics of your belly, and keep him involved by making him a countdown calendar or updating him about your doctor visits.

i'm assuming it's his (kidding). send him a baby tee shirt with the words hi daddy on it. if he has email, it might be quicker to send an email card. it's going to be a long 9 mths without him there with you, i hope you have family and friends around. good luck.
