The fact is people don't get stuck in elevators often or for very long.

To do a movie of people stuck in an elevator for very long is just not factual.
If the power is off you can push the doors open.
And if the floors are of normal hight either the top of the elevator or the bottom will have room for you to crawl out.

Now maybe one person & the only one in a building at the time on a day before a holiday week end & you might have something.

Not a bad idea but it might get a bit boring kinda like watching the same scene over and over i guess if you add in some shoots of the things around them like if its in a hotel add in some scenes of the other people waiting for the elevator of the kids looking for there parents that are locked in the elevator just an idea

Sounds a little cliched and the TV show Lost is just like this. All they could do with the characters is show their past and why they needed to use the elevator. It's a good idea but not very original.

Sounds good to me. However, I recall this being used as a plot device in "You've Got Mail"... Incidentally, I recall being trapped in an elevator in college.. was about 1 am, and cell phones weren't working because.. you know.. elevator.. We pressed the call button and the person on the other end was from Public Safety, he asked us if we were alright, and then didn't do anything else.. apparantly.. because we called back an hour or so later and he was like "uhhh... i didn't call anyone, you said you were alright." It was myself, 2 of my male friends, and this girl we didn't know who was high.. and, she decided that she needed to have sex in that elevator. I recall the phrase "If I don't have sex with one of you, i'm a total loser." Fun fun times.

Could work well. LOTS of possibilities. Would have to be crisp and clever dialogue and storyline or it could be tough to hold an audience. Seven might be a large number, though.
Elevators are tough story devices to utilize, though.

Here's a (very) early cut of a short film I co-produced that takes place in an elevator:

A guy meets, falls in love, marries and divorces a girl all in an elevator in 3 minutes.

You should write an up an outline and see if you think it's feasible.
I think it is.
Good Luck

The idea has already been conceived in a Tostitos commercial. The one where the lady tells a guy that he needs to close his curtains because she could see "everything". I thought it was an interesting concept, although it didn't make me want any torillas.

Good idea, but I'd like to read a screenplay to see exactly what kind of ideas you have to keep any kind of plot going.

no longer adequate ecosystem. The writing could could desire to be so tight and appropriate to maintain our activity and that could desire to grow to be magnificent. There could needless to say be no action. I dont think of it may paintings aside from a small industry section that appreciates the MASH type witty dialofue yet is prepared to forgoe the action, ecosystem and love scenes.

it sounds like it would get boring after about 10 minutes. Just my opinion though and i am claustrophobic so that might be a factor.

If done properly, I could see this being a really fantastic minimalist film.
