Too all of you who say America "overreacted" to the events of 9/11 and the loss of thousands of lives and the effect that loss had on countless others, I hope you remember that in the event of another terrorist attack here. Maybe next time you will be personally affected somehow, maybe with your own life or someone you love. They want us ALL dead, every man, woman and child, so try to keep that in mind the next time you say that we "overreacted"

I have to say that Americans have been under reacting ever since the Korean War. Let me explain.
Something that many people who have never experience war, willful slaughter and mass murder do not realize what it entails. Think for a moment. You have no television; no radio, no laundry, and no movies, no clothing, no food, no water and your sister/brother/father/mother/wife/husband has just died horribly in front of you from torture. Not only this but the people who are causing you all of this grief are looking to do the same to you. The fear is all consuming, irrational and animalistic. This is the face of the world that we live in, only the strength of our country protects us.
It is true that the certain leaders in the past have been manipulative to other peoples as well as our own citizens but for the most part Americans are very ethical caring generous people. We are hated because we live without the type of scenario that I first described and others are jealous of that as well as fearful of it. This type of liberty does not just happen or all countries would be as we are. Why do we enjoy relative prosperity? Why can our children grow up with the number one worry on their mind being whether they have the latest and greatest piece of junk that can be purchased? It is because our forefathers, our grandfathers, our fathers, brothers (and sisters) gave their lives in the pursuit of the American way of life and in our defense.
Sounds corny but just think about living in the Middle East, Africa, Russia or, God help us, France! Day after day I read where our own citizens are badmouthing this country, our government and our president without ever realizing what life in the majority of the world is like. I, for one, believe that we should locate the source or the bombings and totally and completely annihilate every last one of the people or peoples that had anything to do with attacking peaceful US citizens in our own country.
Ok, I’m off my soapbox but I would ask all of you detractors that are Americans to think before you slam our country. It is your right but the things that you say, smart a** remarks that you think are witty, may hit others very deeply.

A bunch of terrorists flew airplanes into buildings. THAT is over the top.We cannot lose sight of that fact.
When you say America, do you mean the President? Do you mean politicians? Your question is a little vague as to who has overreacted.

Alot of people say this is an extremist view but hear me out. We have not reacted strongly enough. For example, Japan attacked Pearl Harbor. In response, America sent no troops to Japan, no long term plan of action was organized, no liberation excuse was made in fact they did not spend billions of dollars on bombs, manpower or munitions, they dropped 2 bombs. Hiroshima and Nagasaki. No American lives were lost in the attack and history doesn't even judge us harshly. What about the US Japan relationship, never better. Now these Afghani and Iraqi retards who think they are going to change the world with their holy wars and chopping off peoples heads on camera would undoubtedly change thir tunes, and I mean quick, as the desert turned into a flaming hell around them. We havent gained more worldwide or domestic respect, or saved innocent lives by doing it slowly or less violent. So WTF do it. And for all those who say Iraq did not do the World Trade Towers and they have nothing to do with it. I agree, but if their were absolutely no correlation, why would all of these Islamic Jihadists have such a problem with us being there?

If you really think and concentrate about that day, it is mentally paralyzing how tragic and terrible that was. They were just people at work with families. It is not until now, years later that it has start to sink in, and it sucks to have to deal with it, even though I did not know anyone that died.
My brother now lives there, and takes the "PATH that is a target these days and I worry.
It's just all too much.

America over-reacts to everything.
First they fund terrorism around the world. September 11th was the result of this, chickens come home to roost!!!
Next we hear "Why does the world hate us?"
American politicians need an enemy, so that they can con their politically naive populace.
They no longer have the Soviet Union, so they have built up Al Quaeda- which incidentally they armed in the first place - into something which threatens the "free world" i.e.. the united states.

Kate, it only seems like an over reaction because we did nothing for so long while the Islamic terrorists indiscriminately murdered thousands of innocent men, women and children.
The events of 9/11 was simply the last straw - the terrorists had been terrorizing and killing Americans all over the globe since 1979.
Perhaps, if anything, it is an under reaction.

They overreacted in most instances and under reacted in the ones they should have.
Drop two bombs on Afghanistan and destroy the country. Start a "Two bombs" rule. Anyone that attacks us gets "Two Bombs" whether the attack was sanctioned by the government or not. This will cause governments to crack down on rogue groups like Al Queda.
Want to attack us? I hope you like Two Bombs because that's what you'll be getting. Just ask Japan, they got Two Bombs and now they are our bit ch.
