Any dictionary will show you the syllables in a word.

Well, clapping is an accurate way of counting the number of syllables (or 'beats) in a word.

If by Syllables u mean the phonetic syllables, u may know how many syllables a word has by looking for the number for vowel sounds in a word. for example word 'together' has 3 syllables. it can be easily identify by doing phonemic transcription of a word.

Pronounce the word correctly out load and count the groups. This works for English; but is a bit different in Spanish'

of cource ,write that word in phonetics, then count the vowels .it is the most accirate way

Simple math, I just visualize the word in my head when I do it.

say it out loud and count how many beats it has to it....
