yes they do. Their petals are designed to absorb as much sun as possible and they can swivel (to a degree) to reach the best angle to collect sunlight for photosynthesis. This is an adaptive behavior that led to the giant sunflowers we have today... I'm a bio major :)

yes yes yes. i spent most of my life in kansas, and it is really kewl that whole fields (as far as the eye can see) of sunflowers do follow the sun. in the morning they face east, by night, they face west.
