If not/so, what can the Amd processor be compared to, to the Intel's processor.

It will do fine against the old P4 dual cores, better I would say.

However, once pitted against the Core2 Duo it slides 1 step backwards.

Don't even bother comparing it with the Core2 Duo Extreme or the Quad Cores, those are super handicapped matches!

The fastest processor alive today is the the PlayStation 3.

But for PC's its going to be the $ 1,000.00 :

Intel Core 2 Duo Extreme 4.6GHz

Yes, although it doesn't do very well against it. It's better at fighting the Core Duo.

Yes they are comparable, the Intel would be a little faster, but they are fairly close.
